Skeleton in the House: FRACTALICIOUS!

„Bryan Reynoldsot Bryan Reynolds szerepében, Jessica Emmanuelt pedig Jessica Emmanuel szerepében láthattuk a tegnapi előadásban.” Visky felvilágosítja a közönséget: ha véletlenül azt hitték volna, hogy az előadás eleje, mikor Buzási András bemutatja Bryan Reynoldsot, az volt az egyetlen valóságos pillanat az előadásban, csalódniuk kell. Ugyanis – az sem volt az.

Fractal – egy forma, alakzat végtelen sokszorozódása (pl. Fibonacci-számok, Esterházy szövegalkotási technikája). Innen ered a cím – Fractalicious! –, de igazából ez egy nem létező szó. Talán a jelentéstelenség jelképe? A folyton megjelenő és eltűnő jelentésé?

Jessica a beszélőnek megduplázódása. A személyiségek egymásra csúsznak. A nő tánca rögzített koreográfia, az előadásmódja azonban, akárcsak Bryan szövegénél, változhat.

Az alkotóknak nincs ideális közönségük. Az a fő, hogy nyitottak legyenek. Bár teljes egészében lehetetlen végigkövetni és befogadni az előadást, a nézőnek ez kell, hogy legyen a szándéka. A jó humor sem árt. A közönségnek válogatnia kell, hogy mikor mit követ, hiszen egyszerre ömlik rá a szöveg, egyszerre látja a táncot, a gyors projekciót és két DJ élőben keveri a zenét, valamint két énekes is besegít. Egyszerre többfele „tolják” a nézőt.

Ez a pasas valami eszméletlen. Feláll, és kb. ott folytatja, ahol a tegnap este abbahagyta. És én megint piszkosul figyelek, de sajnos nagyjából ugyanannyit csípek el, mint előző nap: interakció, testbeszéd, pozitív megkülönböztetés, szubjektivitás, szubjektív tér, hely és idő, idő és tér tudata, egymásra csúszások, szubjektív tér kitágítása, tapasztalatok, tudatállapot, útkereszteződés, összpontosított tudatosság, széttörik és összeáll újra, meglepetés… Mikor már teljesen feladtam (és látványosan nem egyedül voltam ezzel így a teremben), Bryan felajánlja, hogy elküldi a szöveget és egyéb kapcsolódó anyagokat annak, aki ígényli. Szorgosan felvéstük az e-mail címeinket egy listára.

„We have seen Bryan Reynolds as Bryan Reynolds, Jessica Emmanuel as Jessica Emmanuel in yesterday’s performance.” As Visky clarified for the audience: have they thought that the beginning of the performance, when András Búzási introduced Bryan Reynolds was the single real moment of the performance, they were wrong: it wasn’t real either.

Fractal – the endless multiplication of a shape, a formation (e. g. the Fibonacci sequence, Esterházy’s prose technique). Hence the title – Fractalicious! – though the word is non-existent. Could it be the symbol of meaninglessness? The symbol of the meaning, always appearing and disappearing?

Jessica doubles the narrator, the personalities intertwine. The woman’s dance is choreographed, fixed, its performance, however, may change, just like Bryan’s words.

The creators do not have an ideal audience. They must be open though. And even if it is impossible for the audience to follow and receive the entire performance, they have to intend to. A good sense of humour might not hurt either. The viewer must make the choice what to follow at a given moment, because they are simultaneously flooded by the text, the sight of the dance, the fast-paced projection, the 2 DJ’s mixing live, and the 2 performing singers. The viewer is „pushed” into many directions.

This guy is incredible. He stands up and picks up where he left off yesterday evening. And even though I pay sharp attention, I still cannot grasp any more than yesterday: interaction, body language, positive discrimination, subjectivity, subjective space, place and time / time and place awareness, intertwining, expansion of subjective space, experience, consciousness, intersections, focused awareness, composing and breaking apart again, surprise ... and when I completely gave up (obviously, I wasn’t the only one in the room), Bryan offered to send the text and the related materials to everybody who was interested. We urgently put our e-mail addresses on a list.

I can hardly wait for that letter...

azoknak, akik azt tanácsolták, hogy ne menjek be az előadásra

Mindig sokkal nehezebb megindokolni, hogy miért tetszett egy előadás. Ezért én sem fogom. Ehelyett, íme, 10 tanács tőlem a jövendőbeli nézőknek:

1. Az előadás kulcsát, a benne elhangzó temérdek mennyiségű tudományos szöveg ellenére próbáljuk meg nem csak a racionalitás eszközeivel keresni.
2. Az előadás befogadását próbáljuk meg kevésbé függővé tenni a szövegek értelmétől, még akkor is, ha pár évezredes rutinunkat kell emiatt feladnunk.
3. Pontosabban a szöveget ne helyezzük feltétlenül a videoprojekciók, a zene, a tánc vagy a szereplők attitűdjei elé. Csak mellé. Hagyjuk bátran, hogy néha egyik vagy másik vezessen. (megj.: a videoprojekció nem azért van, mert kopott a hátsó fal; a zene nem azért van, hogy aláfesse a színészt; a táncos lány nem azért táncol, hogy a szöveg alatt legyen látvány is).
4. Az említett elemek között keressük a kötéseket, de véletlenül se próbáljunk meg egy egységes rendszert felépíteni.
5. Ha ez utóbbira mégsem vagyunk képesek, akkor fogadjuk el a rendszerünk hiányosságait. Képzeljük el, hogy a laskaszűrő sem egységes, tiszta luk az egész, s mégis milyen fontos része az életünknek.
6. Figyeljünk magunkra. Ez nagyon fontos. Nagyon, nagyon fontos. Figyeljünk arra, ahogyan az agyunk multi-tasking módba kapcsol, ahogyan több fronton harcol az információért. Figyeljük meg, hogyan figyelünk.
7. Hagyjuk magunkat meglepni. Hagyjuk magunkat megcsiklandozni. Hagyjuk magunkat, de ne hagyjuk magunkat.
8. Csak azért, mert holland előadás, ne gondoljuk, hogy ezek tuti, be vannak tépve.
9. Amikor bemegyünk az előadásra, olyannak kell lennünk, mint egy fehér lap. Mint egy habtiszta, szűz-fehér lap egy nyitott könyvben.
10. Várjuk ki a végét!

pentru cei care m-au sfătuit să nu mă duc la spectacole

Mereu este mult mai greu să motivăm de ce ne-a plăcut un spectacol. Din acest motiv nici eu nu o voi face . În loc de motivare, iată 10 sfaturi de la mine pentru viitorii spectatori :

1. Să nu încercăm să căutăm cheia spectacolului pe baza rațiunii, nici în ciuda cantității imense de texte științifice.
2. Să încercăm să nu subordonăm interiorizarea spectacolului înțelesului textelor, nici dacă trebuie să ne îndepărtăm de o rutină de mii de ani.
3. Mai exact, să nu punem textul neapărat în prim-plan, în fața proiecțiilor video, a muzicii, a dansului, a atitudinii personajelor. Doar lângă acestea. Să ne lăsăm călăuziți fără teamă de unul dintre acestea (notă: proiecțiile video nu au rolul de a acoperi peretele uzat din spate, muzica nu are rolul să folosească drept fundal sonor pentru actor, dansatoarea nu de aceea dansează, ca să existe pe parcursul spectacolului și o priveliște).
4. Să căutăm legăturile între elementele sus-menționate, dar să nu încercăm să construim o entitate întreagă și completă.
5. Dacă nu suntem capabili de acesta din urmă, să acceptăm deficiențele sistemului nostru. Să ne imaginăm, că nici strecurătoarea nu este unitară, este plină de găuri, și totuși ce rol important are în viețile noastre.
6. Să fim atenți la noi înșine. Este foarte important. Foarte-foarte important. Să fim atenți la cum ne intră mintea în mod multi-tasking, când luptă simultan pe mai multe fronturi pentru a obține informații. Să fim atenți la cum suntem atenți.
7. Să ne lăsăm surprinși. Să ne lăsăm gâdilați. Să ne lăsăm, dar totuși, să nu ne lăsăm.
8. Doar pentru că este un spectacol olandez, să nu credem, că toți sunt drogați.
9. Când intrăm în sala de spectacole rebuie să fim imaculați, ca o foaie albă. Ca o foaie fără nicio pată, ca o foaie albă dintr-o carte.
10. Să așteptăm finalul!

to those who have advised me not to watch this performance

It is always harder telling why I liked a performance. So I won’t. Instead, here are ten advices from me, to the future viewers:

1. The key to this performance, in spite of the flood of scientific passages, shouldn’t be sought with the devices of rationality.
2. We should try to make the interpretation of the performance more independent from the meaning of the texts, even if by doing so we would give up several millennia of our routine.
3. More accurately, we should not place the text by any means in front of the video projections, the music, the dance or the attitude of the characters. Just beside them. Let’s just let ourselves be led by one or another. (Note: the video projection isn’t there just to cover up the weather-beaten back wall. The music isn’t just to accompany the actor. The dancer girls don’t just dance to ensure a sight besides the text.)
4. We should seek for the links between these elements, but we shouldn’t try to make a consistent system out of them, not at all.
5. If we are unable to do the former, that we should accept the lacks of our system. Just imagine that the strainer isn’t consistent either, it is full of holes, but it is a necessary part of our lives.
6. We should keep a close watch on ourselves. This is very important. Very, very important. Let’s pay attention to our brain when it switches to multi-tasking mode, as it fights on many fields for information. Let’s pay attention to us paying attention.
7. We should just let ourselves be surprised. Tickled. We should just let ourselves, but we shouldn’t let ourselves go.
8. Just because it’s a Dutch performance, we shouldn’t suppose they are high as a kite all along.
9. When we enter, we should be tabula rasa. Like a clean virgin-white page in an open book.
10. Just wait and see!
